Help Support Beloved Memphis Stylist Wendy Bellou During Cancer Treatment
If you've had your hair cut in Midtown Memphis over the last 20 years, chances are you know Wendy Bellou. With her warmth, creativity, and magnetic laugh, Wendy has been a fixture at the iconic Bermel Hair Salon, and more recently at Color Me Crazy, the salon she co-founded with her longtime colleague Brian Fairley at Phenix Salon Suites.
Now, Wendy needs the community she’s served so lovingly to show up for her.
Wendy has been diagnosed with appendiceal cancer, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects just 1 to 2 people per million in the U.S. She’s been in the hospital for nearly two weeks and faces at least six months of intensive treatment and recovery. During this time, she will be unable to work and is in urgent need of financial support to help cover her living expenses, medical bills not covered by insurance, and day-to-day needs while she focuses on healing.
Wendy is not just a treasured hair stylist — she’s a loving mother of three children, including her daughter Marie, who lives in Memphis and is helping care for her during this time. Her two sons live out of town but remain closely connected and supportive. For decades, Wendy has been a source of confidence and comfort to her clients, many of whom became dear friends over the years. Her chair was more than a salon seat — it was a place for laughter, tears, transformation, and kindness.
When Bermel Hair Salon closed after 50 years, Wendy, Brian, and others from the team found a new home at Phenix Salon Suites, continuing their artistry and building their businesses from the ground up. Wendy’s entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, and dedication to her clients made Color Me Crazy a vibrant new chapter in her story.
Now, as she begins this unexpected battle, we want to help make sure her story continues.
Please consider making a donation — any amount helps — and share this with others who know and love Wendy. Let’s wrap her in the care and support she has so generously given to so many.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
