I am raising funds for my cousin Wendi Crowder who has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic carcinoma.
It has been a tough year for the family with the loss of their mother and grandmother just four months apart. During the time of her mother and grandmother’s passing, Wendi’s husband, Jeff, went through open heart surgery. Due to his medical condition, he is not able to work. His income has been significantly reduced and disability pay is not enough to cover basic living expenses. While Jeff has seen some improvement, we received even more devastating news that Wendi has cancer again.
Wendi was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. She then went through chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and multiple surgeries. July 30th, 2024, would have been her 11th year as a breast cancer survivor.
She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic carcinoma in her bone marrow. While mourning our losses and caring for Jeff, she had been suffering herself. Her pain level is high and she is unable to work. She had to immediately take a leave of absence from work due to being anemic and at high risk for fractures, infections. Wendi met with an oncologist today and learned there is no current cure. She will be on two different medications for life and will need to take several months off of work for labs, doctor appointments, and time for her body to adjust to the treatment.
We want to raise money for Wendi and Jeff to ease the burden of rent, utilities, food, and other essential needs. Unfortunately, Wendi cannot use the Oregon Paid Leave until November. She had already used that leave to care for Jeff after his surgery. Her next option is applying for Social Security/Disability. That process can be lengthy and we want Wendi to focus on herself and not worry about rent or food.
Please give what you can - every dollar will help Wendi and Jeff focus on recovery from their serious health conditions. If you can’t give, please share this with your community to help spread awareness and build support.
