My brother, Wayne, has endured an unimaginable series of medical emergencies since September 2025. A knee infection spread into his bloodstream and heart, requiring open-heart surgery. During this hospital stay, Wayne suffered a stroke and lost the ability to eat. A feeding tube complication led to a severe abdominal infection, resulting in emergency surgery where he required resuscitation.

Early on, Wayne developed a pressure sore, which has worsened due to his limited mobility. At this time, we are trying to get Wayne stabilized to leave the hospital, but he will require around-the-clock care. The ongoing costs of long-term care, medical supplies, and support services are more than our family can manage alone.
