Wayne Gaffney has always been a hardworking man, dedicating his life to supporting his family and helping others. He spent years working for Penn Line and later for a tree company, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. In his early 40s, Wayne suffered his first heart attack, but he continued to push forward, determined to provide for those he loves.
In January 2025, Wayne faced a major setback when he experienced another severe heart attack and was diagnosed with heart failure. Doctors told him there was nothing more they could do for his heart, and he would need to wait a year before being considered for a heart transplant. Just as that year was coming to an end, Wayne began coughing up blood and was rushed to the emergency room. Tests revealed a tumor in his throat, and he was soon diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. This devastating news meant he was no longer eligible for the heart transplant he so desperately needed.
Since then, Wayne has endured months of treatments, countless trips to Pittsburgh for appointments, and a two-week hospital stay after a life-threatening blood infection. Despite all these challenges, the bills have continued to pile up—medical expenses, utilities, gas, and tolls for travel to his treatments. Unable to work, Wayne and his family are struggling to keep up with the mounting costs. Through it all, Wayne has remained one of the kindest people you could meet, always ready to help others, even in his own time of need. Now, he and his family need our support more than ever. Any help—whether it’s sharing this fundraiser or making a donation—would mean the world to them as they face these overwhelming challenges together.
