Support Wayne Ford's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Our community received word on Tuesday, August 18, 2024 that Wayne Ford (one of our day shift security guards), who had been out for a couple weeks, is quite ill. Wayne informed us of a medical situation which is outlined below in his own words. All of us in the Martins Point community appreciate greatly the dedication, warmth and support Wayne provides to each of us. I am sure we will all continue to think of Wayne and his wife Karen during this very difficult time and as they navigate this journey.
From Wayne: For those who don’t know, on August 2nd I was admitted to the ER at OBX Hospital. After some initial testing, I was transferred to Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk where additional testing revealed that I have Stage 4 Esophageal and Stomach Cancer with lesions on my liver. In the next couple of weeks, we will decide on a treatment plan. I don’t know when I will be back to work. I miss greeting everyone at the gate and helping with whatever everyone needed. Hopefully we can get this under control, and I can return to work. I want to thank everyone for everything you have done for me and all the guards over the last couple of years. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. I’ve been humbled by the outpouring of support and prayers from the residents. Everyone at Martin’s Point is the best. Thank you for everything.
~Wayne Ford
My name is Antha Bishop and I live at 4056 Martins Point Road. I have established this GoFundMe account in hopes of raising money to assist Mr. and Mrs. Ford while Wayne is out of work. Please consider gifting what you can in hopes of helping them a bit financially.
