My name is Linda Burton. I am 77 years old. My husband and I retired to South Carolina about 18 years ago. Our son Wayne Burton is in dire need of your assistance. He is 55, uunemployed, seriously ill and uninsured.

This has been the longest day of my life. Following the longest week.

Last week (11/16) our son Wayne left Columbus OH with little more than the clothes on his back and his dog. On Wed I took him to the ER where he was immediately admitted. Sat they amputated part of his foot. Sun he was transfered to a larger hospital in Columbia SC where they could better treat his condition, whatever that might be. He was diagnosed with a severe case of Degenerative Artery Disease. His Dr stated it was undoubtedly caused by his history of standing long hours on his feet at his employment; a local pub/Cafe in Columbus OH. He had been having trouble with his feet/legs for sometime. Local Dr's failed to correctly diagnose his condition. He continued to work, but as his condition was progressing it became more difficult to walk. His employer responded by cutting his hours and finally telling him "just don't bother to come back." Twenty-seven years he poured his heart into someone else's establishment to be treated like yesterday's garbage when he was no longer useful to them.

The dr determined the right leg was unable to maintain life even with the surgical reconstruction of his arteries/veins. The leg was amputated today along with reconstruction of the remainder of that leg. He will still need reconstruction of the arteries/veins of the left leg in the near future. Much rehab will needed. And he will need to be fitted with a Prosthesis eventually.

It's a wonderful day in South Carolina!

Wayne dues not have a job, he has no money, and is totally uninsured.
