Hi, we’re Waves Crashing, an independent alternative band based in Olympia, WA, and this November we’re taking a pretty big leap. We’re heading to the UK for a 5-date tour!

This whole thing actually started last fall when we were invited to play the Shoegaze Dreampop Weekender #6 in London. We were incredibly honored and immediately wanted to find a way to make it happen. We teamed up with some great bands and local promoters and were able to put together four additional shows around the festival. What started as an invitation to play one festival has turned into an 5-date UK tour, and it’s been almost a year in the making.

We’ve spent the last few years building this band around our jobs, families, and everyday lives. We’ve released two albums & several EPs, toured around the U.S., played some amazing shows, and slowly built an audience that continues to grow. Now we have a chance to take that next step and introduce our music to people across the UK.

The reality is that international touring is expensive. Flights, lodging, transportation, gear, promotion/marketing and everything else add up quickly. We’ve applied for a couple local grants that would have made a huge difference in helping us cover these costs, but unfortunately we’ve fallen short. We all work hard at our day jobs and we’re doing everything we can to cover the costs ourselves, but making this trip happen is still a big financial risk.

And, to make things even more exciting, one of us also has a baby on the way very soon! So this is definitely a big moment in all of our lives.

Still, we feel like this is one of those opportunities that’s worth taking a chance on. We want to keep pushing ourselves, grow the band, reach new people, and see where this can take us. Getting the chance to play in the UK, where so much of the music we love originated, is something we may never get another opportunity to do.
