Support WashU Neurology Tornado Relief

Hello, my name is Dr. Regina Triplett, and I am a faculty member in the Department of Neurology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where I have lived and worked for the past 10 years.

Why I’m Raising Funds

On May 16, 2025, a tornado caused devastating damage in St. Louis, impacting many of my colleagues in the Department of Neurology. Homes, vehicles, and essential belongings were destroyed. I am organizing this fundraiser to provide direct emergency financial assistance to WashU Neurology employees affected by this disaster.

Who I’m Raising Funds For

I am raising funds for colleagues I personally work with — these include faculty, clinical staff, administrative staff, and trainees (residents and fellows) in our department. So far, we have identified 20 households that sustained tornado-related damages.

Each recipient has self-identified through a survey distributed internally by our faculty organizers. We verified tornado impact through internal review, including employee status and reported financial needs.

This effort is led by myself, Dr. Robin Ryther, and Dr. Joy Balls-Berry, all of whom are WashU Neurology faculty. This fundraiser is not affiliated with Washington University, but is a personal, grassroots mutual aid initiative to support those in our professional community.

How Funds Will Be Used

I, Dr. Regina Triplett, will be the sole person withdrawing the funds from GoFundMe.

Once withdrawn, the funds will be evenly distributed to the 20 affected WashU Neurology households. Each household will receive support to cover:

Our current goal is to raise a minimum of $600 per household, though needs may exceed that. If additional affected employees are identified, they will be added based on the same verification process. Any remaining funds after disbursement will be donated to a verified St. Louis nonprofit supporting tornado recovery.

Accountability

I understand and accept that I am personally responsible for ensuring that every dollar raised is spent exactly as stated in this fundraiser. I will maintain full transparency about how funds are distributed, and am willing to provide receipts, summaries, and updates if requested. I am accountable under GoFundMe’s Terms of Service, and take that responsibility seriously.
