I'm an Ann Arbor teacher and musician, and after living and working in Mexico for some years, I've had the privilege to get to know people in our Latino community here. Immigration policy today is devastating families. There are a good number with fathers - or mothers, recently- detained, who are struggling for rent and other basics. We are lucky to have several dedicated organizations who are helping, but the need is greater than they can cover alone.
I started with three families needing rent help immediately. $1400 + $600 + 1200. We got it done. But needs are ongoing as people are being grabbed regularly. Some need support as they plan to give everything up and return. Others are still trying to make things work as best they can. All help is much appreciated. You will get updates on where the contributions have gone!
