Warren Martin is a father, son, brother, and friend. He has battled anything and everything you can imagine. However, this obstacle took a turn for the worst. Tuesday 02/11, he woke up in excruciating pain with no use of his legs. After battling a snowstorm, below-zero temps, two
ambulance rides, and two hospital stops, he underwent major surgery at Parkview Medical in Pueblo, CO, where they aggressively extracted large clots of blood from his legs as well as the blockage that was closing his carotid artery. The doctors gave him a 50% chance of saving his life, let alone his legs. After two surgeries, including 4 fasciotomies, blood transfusions, 2 days on a ventilator, and multiple tests… he is alive and recovering. We have a long road ahead of us figuring out what caused this, repairing other organs damaged by the blood loss, and keeping everything else on the up and up. Warren has an amazing support system that loves him dearly and is right by his side. However, expenses from medical bills, travel, and food have made this stressful situation harder than it already is. Any help at all would be greatly
appreciated❤️
02/20/25 Just wanted to give an update on my poor Dad. Due to his swelling, they were unable to perform the surgery this afternoon. Dr. Pan came in and gave the nurses a pretty harsh warning about how to handle this and what level of care he needs. He was supposed to go back to the OR at noon to try and close up his legs but that was not an option today. We are hoping and praying his swelling goes down soon so they can close him up and move to the next step. Thank you all again for caring, praying and checking in on him. He has had to be medicated heavily due to his retroparatinal bleed and his hematoma so he doesn’t understand where he is or what is going on, which breaks our hearts but we are loving him and comforting him the best we can.
03/03/25 So today it’s almost been 3 weeks since all this happened to Warren Martin. He finally got out of ICU this past Thursday and was moved to Parkview Rehabilitation Center. Friday the 28th they did an evaluation on him and got him settle in. He of course is still confused on things but they say over time he will come out of this which he is getting better, but really you have to laugh at some of it. On Saturday they got him out of bed and started him on the walker, he took a few steps, that pretty much wore him out. Ashley Martin and I spent Sunday with him and we were so impressed on his progress, he took about 15 steps on his first session and by the afternoon he walked with help and a walker 1/2 way around the hospital well actually as my daughter corrected me 1/2 way up the hallway. He does have an infection in his right leg in one of the wounds but they are on top of it and have him on antibiotics. Today, Monday March 3rd they are working on getting a plan and determine when he might get to come home. It’s gonna be a touch long journey when we get him home but with all our friends and family we will conquer this also. WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR ALL THE HELP, PRAYERS AND TEXT MESSAGES, WE LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YALL!!!
03/11/25 We are two days short of a month in the hospital and going on Dad’s 6th surgery today. After his surgery Friday the 7th, they put him back in the rehabilitation center…with 4 open wounds, VRE infection in one of the wounds and wound vac’s on. The rehab center was not necessarily trained to clean and care for this type of trauma and he wasn’t getting the care he needed. Thankfully, Lori Branigan Palmer and Cuchara Valley Furniture came to the rescue. Lori was able to read his portal, go over everything he has been through and went to work. An infectious disease specialist came in to determine what type of infection he has, and a course of action for treatment. She also got the charge nurse in to go over his overall care and treatment. He will stay in the rehab center but will be treated by the infectious disease specialist with high powered antibiotics, he will also be treated by the wound care team with consist dressing changes and wound cleanings. We were leaning towards transferring to another hospital, but Lori really turned things around for us and brought a lot of attention and awareness to my Dad. His whole surgical and doctor team met Monday the 10th to evaluate his treatment plan. Today they will go back in and flush more excessive fluid out of his legs. I will continue to keep everyone updated as the days progress. Thank you all as always for loving and praying for my Dad
