The road to Wanda‘s recovery after her life altering motorcycle accident

On April 10, 2024, Wanda Byrd had just left her house at 5 PM to enjoy an evening motorcycle ride when around 530 on Gordon Road in Wilmington North Carolina an unlicensed, Uninsured motorist failed to yield the right of way turning left into Wanda‘s pathway, as she was going straight at that second Wanda‘s life had changed. The unlicensed uninsured driver continue driving up to driveway instead of coming to Wanda‘s aid. Wanda was ejected 33 feet from her motorcycle, her gas tank and front wheel were torn from the body of the bike, her motorcycle was found standing up and is completely totaled. It was reported that Wanda tried to shift down and hit the brakes, but there was no time before impact. Wanda was wearing proper motorcycle gear, including a DOT helmet. Paramedics worked hard to stabilize Wanda at the scene before transporting her to the nearest hospital. Wanda is suffering from internal and external life-threatening injuries. She had to depend on a ventilator and is still in a critical care unit. Wanda has undergone multiple major surgeries to stabilize her life and will need extensive rehabilitation in the future. With Wanda’s faith in God and through the love of her family and friends and also through the guidance of her doctors she is making progress. Wanda is the person who touches the lives of anyone she meets, we are asking anyone who can donate no matter the amount anything helps our dear friend Wanda, and her family. With the loss of income not only from Wanda but also her partner Christina who has missed a lot of time at work to be by her side day and night. Any funds raised will go towards medical, household and travel expenses to help her partner with having to commute back-and-forth to the hospital. Her partner Christina is also wanting to get her beloved canine Ellie trained as a service animal, knowing she would provide comfort to wanda through these rough battles ahead.
