Support Walter's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
First, I want to give honor and praise to God who is in control of all our lives. On behalf of my Dad, I’m reaching out to his family and many friends for their prayers, support and donations. Over the last year my Dad has been hospitalized on several occasions. Last October he was hospitalized for a Bowel Obstruction caused by a Hernia, and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. He went into the hospital weighing 185 lbs. and came out weighing 165 lbs. After some rest and recuperation he was able to return to work and conduct a normal healthy life. My dad is an Independent Regulatory Compliance Consultant in the banking space. As such when he is out of work he has no income. Up until a month ago all seemed to be going well and he was living a normal life.
On August 19th my Dad began experiencing a sharp pain in his lower back. After dealing with the pain he decided to go to the emergency room at Grady hospital in Atlanta Georgia as he was in Atlanta on a compliance project. Upon his arrival to the ER a CAT Scan was ordered, and it was identified that he had a Kidney Stone. The attending physician also noticed a spot in his stomach that was of concern, and there also appeared to be a Gastric Outlet Obstruction. There was an EGD with biopsy ordered to see exactly what was going on in my Dad’s stomach, and a biopsy was taken as well. After a few days of anxiously waiting for the biopsy results, they did not come back favorable. The results indicated that my Dad was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer, i.e. Anastomotic Gastroduodenal Ulcer with cancerous properties. During the week stay at Grady, my Dad lost another 6 lbs. and now weights a whopping 153lbs.
After meeting with the Oncologist it was his professional opinion that my dad have surgery for removal of some or possibly all of his stomach. The surgery cannot be performed until such time as my Dad gains some weight back and gets physically stronger. In the meantime, we wait and pray. Again, I’m reaching out to all of our family and my Dad's friends, asking you to find it in your heart to make a donation and support him during his time of illness. My goal for my Dad is $50,000 to help cover expenses during his down time. Once again, thank you for the donations, prayers and well wishes. Please continue to share the GoFundMe link as we have a journey still ahead of us and could use the support now more than ever.
Thanking you in advance for your prayers and donations.
