If you’ve ever met Wally Elrod, you love him. He’s happy, goofy, hard working, and loves the Lord, his wife, Carmen, and his family with all his heart. He is always willing to go out of his way to help anyone who needs it.

Wally came into Monument Health on Tuesday, May 28 for an angioplasty after an abnormal stress test a few weeks ago. They told us that they will go in and see if there are any blockages, and if they found anything, they would put stents in right there to fix the issue and it should take about 45 minutes to an hour and a half (depending on if stents were needed). After about a half hour they returned to the room with my dad and said that the blockages were too severe for stents to be the best option for him and said he needed open heart bypass surgery on Wednesday morning. He went in on Wednesday and had a quadruple bypass open heart surgery after harvesting veins from his legs and ribs.

He has had a couple of good days and a couple of rough ones, but he’s a tough guy!He has Tachy Brady syndrome and is currently still in the ICU and will have a permanent pacemaker inserted to help regulate his heart rate. He will spend at least another day in ICU and then hopefully will be able to go home within a few more days after that.

He is just at the beginning of his recovery, and has a long road ahead of him.

Once out of the hospital, he will be out of work for at least 12 weeks and possibly longer. He works two jobs to provide for him and his wife Carmen. With him being out of work from both jobs while he’s in recovery, they will have no money coming in. We would greatly appreciate any support financially and through prayer.
