Hi, I’m Amy, and I’ve had the privilege of fostering Wall-E—a gentle, loving 3-year-old terrier mix. After two long years confined to a shelter kennel with minimal social interaction, Wall-E is finally getting his first taste of comfort, trust, and connection.
Wall-E's was only a puppy at a year old when he entered the Medley Shelter, he then spent the next two years mostly isolated from the outside world with little to no socialization. Despite the rough start in life he is full of love – and is eager to always show it. He is low-energy and completely potty trained. Wall-E loves his toys and entertains himself with them. However, he will always prefer to be near his person. His demeanor isn't just relaxed; it's filled with loyalty. As a faithful companion, he flourishes on gentle affection and is ideally suited for a peaceful, nurturing home where he can feel safe and cherished. He is the true definition of man's best friend. Our aim is to ensure that he finds success with his next family, so he never again has to pass life looking through kennel gates of the Medley facility.
We are looking into a board-and-train program to boost Wall-E’s transition from kennel life to family life. There are several board and train options, and they all have similar pricing. However, since Wall-E is under foster care, the MDAS foster office needs to provide their approval in order to move forward. Therefore, in the interim, we are doing our due diligence looking into several training programs that we feel would suit Wall-E the best. The programs that are being considered are a 30-day program that offers:
- Structured, consistent training in a calm retreat where dogs like Wall-E receive gentle, daily guidance in a distraction-free environment.
- A predictable routine that reinforces good behaviors, giving Wall-E clear expectations and confidence in his progress.
- Socialization experiences to safely introduce him to new people and environments under professional guidance, helping him flourish beyond the shelter.
- Transition tools for home life, where he receives training on how to apply what he has learned, ensuring that what he gains isn’t left behind.
When everything is set – approval is obtained and training has commenced, any unused funds will be donated to a local rescue organization. I'll also keep you updated with photos and short videos to share his progress.
As a community, we have the power to come together and provide Wall-E with the loving life he truly deserves—one filled with warmth, care, and a feeling of belonging. Your support can make a significant difference in helping him move from shelter life to a welcoming family environment. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser within our community would be invaluable. This is not just Wall-E’s journey; it's ours as well. Thank you for helping to create a brighter future for this gentle soul.
