Support Wallace's Journey to Self-Sustainability
Donation protected
I am writing today on behalf of Wallace Townsend of Kenosha County, Wisconsin.
We are working to help individuals who are close to achieving a level of self sustainability but need a little extra push to get the rest of the way.
In Wally's case: Wally has been experiencing homelessness on and off again for almost three years.
While certain personal choices have not helped the situation (and Wally acknowledges that openly), it's also important to note that medical conditions and the removal of a brain tumor (major brain surgery) in 2020 have left him medically disabled and unable to drive a car or hold down meaningful employment.
We are close to having his disability paperwork squared away, and once that happens, we'll be able to secure longterm housing with sustainable income that comes in from that.
In the meantime, we have tapped out hotel reward points and limited cash from a specific donor to get him off the street, cleaned up and moving in the right direction.
The money we are looking for will be used solely to help secure housing and to rebuild a (limited) wardrobe that has been lost to years of homelessness and moving from spot to spot.
Any monies left over from this exercise will be used to assist the next benefactor of this initiative - someone also experiencing either food insecurity or homelessness.
How do I know the monies will be spent properly?
Bill Elverman will manage the money that comes in and will report an accounting of exactly how the money was used throughout the course of the effort.
Bill is also helping connect the dots on disability payments, etc., and, and ensure that whatever funds are raised are only used towards resources that help ensure longterm success.
