Help Waleed Pursue His Medical Dream

Donation protected
"Support Waleed's escape and medical dream."
My name is Waleed Wissam Alian. I am a 20-year-old resident of the besieged Gaza Strip, currently a third-year medical student at Al-Azhar University, Gaza. Like any young person around the world, I aspire to a life filled with happiness and achievements. My journey in the faculty of medicine began with passion and aspiration, aiming to graduate and serve humanity in the noble profession of medicine—a vocation I have cherished since childhood.

During my time at medical school, I experienced beautiful moments of learning and growth. However, tragedy struck when I lost my father, my sole provider and supporter, in my first year. His passing brought upon me a period of immense difficulty, casting shadows of doubt over the feasibility of continuing my education. Despite the hardships, I persisted in my efforts to realize my dreams.

But then, the stark realities of conflict and occupation tore through the delicate fabric of my life. The aggressor that stifles dreams, erases memories, steals childhoods, occupies homelands, and imposes sieges laid waste to Gaza, including homes, health institutions, and educational facilities. Among the ruins was my own university, Al-Azhar Gaza, now entirely destroyed and shut down indefinitely, rendering the continuation of my academic pursuits in Gaza impossible.

I have volunteered at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the emergency department to serve my homeland and its people, who have been starved and displaced by the occupier.

My university, Al-Azhar University Gaza, has been completely destroyed and will not be operational again, which has made the continuation of my educational journey impossible.

yet, my passion remains unquelled. I volunteered at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the emergency department to serve my country and its people, who have suffered starvation and displacement at the hands of the occupier. However, the halt in my education is an unyielding reality, casting a long shadow over my future.

It is increasingly clear that continuing my medical studies in Gaza is no longer viable. Thus, my quest is to fulfill my dream and my father's legacy by pursuing my medical education in Egypt. However, the financial barriers are immense, particularly in light of the ongoing war. The cost of leaving the besieged Gaza Strip is approximately $5,000, and the expenses for my education in Egypt, including university fees and accommodation, are estimated at around $15,000.

I am reaching out for help to complete my education and achieve not only my dream but also the dream my father had for me. I yearn to become a doctor, to serve my homeland and its people. To those who can, I humbly ask for your assistance and donations to enable me to continue my studies and turn my aspirations into reality. Your support could change the course of my life and honor the memory of my late father, whose belief in me continues to be my guiding light.

My deepest appreciation.
