Whose voice gets heard - and whose is left waiting?
Wait For It is a short independent film exploring gender, ambition and the quiet silencing of women's voices - both in the past, and still today.
Set in 1962, the film follows a young aspiring female writer working for a once-successful male playwright. While he struggles to reclaim his fading career, her talent remains overlooked in a world that dismisses women's creative voices. However, when a hidden journal is discovered, their fragile dynamics unravel, raising a powerful, continuously relevant question: whose story truly deserves to be heard?
Written by emerging, Sydney-based filmmaker, Jade Michailidis, Wait For It is a character-driven drama that captures the tension and suppressed ambition experienced by women navigating male-dominated creative spaces.
This project is not just about telling a story - it's about creating opportunities for emerging women in film, both on and off the screen. We're a passionate team of young creatives bringing these visions to life, and we are committed to telling stories that challenge, question, and resonate. As a low-budget independent production, we are seeking support to cover essential costs, including equipment, production design, catering, post-production and film festival submission expenses. Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly help us develop this film and ensure it reaches audiences.
By supporting Wait For It, you are contributing to a broader movement to amplify underrepresented voices and support the next generation of storytellers.
We are incredibly grateful for any support and would love to recognise our contributors in ways that align with your preferences.
We hope to see you on this journey with us!
