Support Waffle's Emergency Vet Care

Donation protected
On July 23rd my sweet angel dog, Waffle (7 yr old Corgi), started showing some signs of gastrointestinal distress after getting some coffee grounds out of the trash while I was out of town. She was taken to the vet and given some medicine and instructions for home care. In the next 24hrs, once I was home, her diarrhea became increasingly bloody, more frequent, and was unable to keep down food and water. So I took her back to the emergency vet. (7/24 afternoon) at that time they were not concerned about her level of dehydration and reassured me that she should be able to hang on until we could get her to her primary vet (where they take her pet insurance) the next day in order to save costs. I was sent home with the direction to withhold food and water until the morning. Over the next few hours her condition dramatically declined to the point that I had to rush her back to the vet at midnight because she had lost total control of her bowel movements, was too weak to walk and bleeding uncontrollably. She had gone into hypovolemic shock and the vet said she had to be hospitalized in the critical care unit immediately or she would not survive. They had to hold her for 2 nights and run a million tests. Thankfully the tests ruled out the scarier options and she was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. Ultimately with the help of our vets and constant care she is going to be ok and was able to come home with strict instructions and many medications on the afternoon of July 26. But, this was a huge financial undertaking.
Those that know me right now know that I am going through a divorce, am mostly unemployed and completely unable to financially handle this situation. Ultimately my dog is my life force and I would do anything for her but I am really counting on kind hearted strangers, friends and family to help dig me out of this hole a little. If you are in the position to help, anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by me and waffle. Please share this with anyone with a soft spot for animals and know that I love you all
