Support Vyn's Journey to Stability After Surgery

Hi, I'm Vyn! I'm always terrible at writing about myself and worse at asking for help, but it's my birthday and my friends encouraged me to try GoFundMe instead of having a meltdown. Heh.

Alright, I suppose we start with the why?

I had been working at a small business for about a year and in that time I'd endured a lot of poor treatment from an unpleasant supervisor. Knowing how she was already (I was reprimanded for "having an emergency on her day off" and given extra tasks), I went to HR first and requested assistance with what I would need for medical leave for an upcoming surgery.

I was approved for about a month, way less time than I technically needed but I need this money too.

When I notified my supervisor that HR had approved me for this time, my boss went off on me. The general consensus from the people around me was, "How can she talk to another human being like that?!" And so I forwarded it to HR.

What I got back was an email stating that while they would recognize my request, they didn't have to do anything, especially not prevent my boss from being nasty and vindictive about my need for time off. After 2 solid weeks of her screaming about me being disrespectful of her vacation time and immature for requesting HR stop her behavior, I was forced to quit.

I expected a month without pay. I didn't expect to come out of surgery with 2 weeks less work and no job to come back to.

I've run out of savings, I used rent money to pay for medical necessities like gauze and medications... In short, I'm broke and terrified. I'll be able to start working at a limited capacity in another week or so, but that's assuming I'm hired immediately and there's no waiting period for pay. It's more than I can assume will happen in this economy.

So, long story short: please help me survive long enough for me to keep my home and find a new job once I've recovered. Anything at all that you can give is tremendously appreciated.
