Do you love fireside folktales? Or magical performers playing fantastical characters? Or shadow puppets, and epic quests, and heart-wrenching mandolin ballads?

Or lovable and grateful artists being compensated for their tireless passion?

We are dreaming up a brand new play with all those things, and would be deeply grateful if you helped make it a reality! Volpe & Líadan will be an original play with music for all ages, and we need your support in order to pay ourselves and our collaborators fairly.

Directed and music directed by Jonah Godfrey and written by Michael "Dola" Amendola, the production will feature the illustrious performance & creative stylings of: Faysal Can Dakni, Alexis Howland, Graham Cook, Tina Zhong, Reb Martin, Jenavive Banes, Brooke Shilling, Maddie Roth, and Rosie Tabachnick!

Volpe & Líadan will premiere this September at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, as part of Cannonball Festival's Performance for Young Audiences Special Presentation Track.

WHERE FUNDS WILL GO
  • $600 to rent rehearsal space
  • $300 to make puppets, costumes, and props
  • $2,800 to meet minimum fees for artists
Each 1,000 above that would allow for another $100 each to artists

It's near impossible to find funds to pay artists what they deserve right now, which is why we are humbly asking you to help as much as you are able.

FULL SHOW DESCRIPTION

"What would you sacrifice for love?"

Volpe & Líadan unearths the epic tale of two unlikely lovers on a perilous quest to steal from the tyrannical shadow-lord Âyneråkt the Only, so that they may be together. Part fantasy-heist, part fireside ballad, this immortal story of mortal sacrifice sings of shadows and stars, tricksters and beasts, and the consequences of reaching beyond one’s fate.

Featuring the wordplay of Dóla the Bard, the music and direction of Jónah the Troubadour, and a seasoned ensemble of performers, the production weaves original folk song, puppetry, and stylized physical theater to summon an otherworld of magical creatures and unforgettable characters.

Volpe & Líadan is recommended for ages 10 and up (including immortals).
-------------------------------------
We believe in stories that truly connect to folks of all ages, and Volpe & Líadan will be no exception. Stories that are layered and complex, where a 12-year-old, a 29-year-old, and a 54-year-old might all find their own way in. Stories that don't shy away from complex and difficult themes, but that are suitable for kids and adults alike. In the spectrum of youth theater, will be geared towards older kids: young people that are really starting to see the world for its nuance and heartbreak and scale, who are ready to wrestle with love and loss with new awareness.

Your generosity will ensure our artists are paid fairly and our production can reach its full creative potential. Even $5 makes a difference.

And either way, we hope to see you at the show in September!
