For over 30 years, the Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts has been a pillar of arts education in Laredo. This year, the spotlight shines a little brighter on our young thespians: for the first time in the school’s history, the VMT Theater Department is invited to perform at the 2025 American High School Theater Festival as part of the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.

A total of 13 VMT student actors and technicians, and 4 LISD sponsors will be traveling to the festival to perform a production of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. The total cost for one student is $6,891, which brings the total cost of the group to $118,000. Because the majority of these travelers come from low-income families, we are seeking the community’s help in sponsoring the cost of one student or part of a student’s trip. For many of these young scholars, it will be their first time traveling out of the state. The impact of international travel on a student is life-changing. It is our hope that with your valued assistance as a sponsor for this fine group of dedicated and hard-working students, we will minimize the economic hardship this trip would have on these families and allow us to display Laredo's young theatrical talent on an international stage.
