I never thought I'd have to do this, but here we are. One of our cats, Vivi, hasn't been doing so well. He stopped really eating about a month ago, so my brother took him to the vet, to find out his liver enzymes were high. After some fluids, and being syringe fed, he started eating some again, but still not a whole lot. They allowed him to be brought home, as they couldn't do anything else for him, being just a basic vet. After running another blood test last week on him, they found out that one of the enzymes came down, but the other enzyme was still high, and he still had jaundice. He was dropped off at an animal hospital to see a specialist yesterday, and they did an ultrasound on him, to find his liver and gallbladder didn't look the best, so they did a biopsy on both and sent them off for testing. Results came back with no cancer, but he does have fatty liver disease, possible infection. They kept him overnight last night, and had him on antioxidants and antibiotics, and today the liver enzyme that was still high at a 7, has come down to a 6.2, so progress, but he's still not eating. They've also found out he's anemic as well from all this. They're looking to do a temporary feeding tube, and possible blood transfusion on him. The vet told my brother he wouldn't suggest doing a feeding tube, if he didn't think it wasn't going to help him get better. We're doing everything we can to give our boy a fighting chance.

All in all, my brother has taken on this whole thing by himself, and paid for it all himself via savings, credit card, etc, and I want to try to help lift some of the burden off his shoulders. We love Vivi, and we're doing anything we can for him.
