Support Vivi's Educational Journey

Vivi is a rising high school junior who is passionate about learning and using her interest and skills at a local and global level. After significant participation in Model UN Conferences and a personal investment beyond the classroom in learning Spanish, she has the opportunity to travel to Spain and stay for 1 month with a family and take courses this summer. This opportunity is provided through the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), whose values to bridge global cultures and build peace align with Vivi's. After a lengthy process Vivi worked hard on, they have generously provided a $1,000 scholarship, for which we are thankful. Unfortunately, it falls short of what is needed for her to be able to participate in the program.

As her public-school teacher Mom and only parent, I feel sad that I am not able to make up the difference as I know what this type of opportunity could mean for her and her future. I myself was lucky enough to work in high school and travel one summer - I keep up with friends from that trip now and know how life-changing that experience was for me. Knowing Vivi's interests in connecting with other people, excelling at her academics, eagerness to work in international affairs in her future and more, I know this would provide her a wonderful jumping off point. I also know that as an only child who helps taking care of her elderly grandmother, this would give her an experience to spread her wings, enjoy greater independence and to develop relationships with other students who share her passions.
