Almost 3 years ago, our daughter Vivian was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. After 6 months, she was able to get the Tandem t:slim insulin pump. We loved the technology, but she hated the limitations of a tubed pump, so we switched to the Omnipod 5. It is small, compact, waterproof, and has tons of advantages, but the IQ technology available with Tandem is amazing.
Tandem has a more aggressive algorithm, and we feel that would be better for her. Yes, the Mobi that we want her to have still has a tube, but the pump is much smaller, water-resistant, and can be attached to the body for easy wear.
Our insurance company will not allow her to switch from Omnipod 5 to the Tandem Mobi until March 2027. Cash price for this pump is just over $4000.
We are managing fine now, but every parent wants to help their child be their best, and when it comes to diabetes, we need all the help we can get. If you feel so inclined to help, that would be awesome.
Thank you!
