Support Vital Nursing Experience Abroad

I have the amazing opportunity to go to Kenya this upcoming January, but I need help to get there! Here I will do things like clinicals in the local hospitals, home wellness visits in the nearby villages, and work in local clinics to get to know nursing in a different context and culture.
This is not directly a mission trip, but it will give me the vital experience I need to learn the practical medical skills, as well as, learned adaptability that will allow me to do missions type nursing opportunities in the future. I feel called to do more than just serve where there is an abundance of resources, and this opportunity will open that door for me.
I am very passionate about nursing and believe it is such a beautiful and tangible way to be the hands and feet of Christ. Not many vocations allow one to see the most hope-filled highs and most devastating lows of people’s lives all in one day. I am already acutely aware of the deep need so many people struggle with, not only in their spiritual needs, but also majorly with their physical needs. I also have noticed a soft spot in my heart for noticing those who not only have that need, but also have no way of filling it. While only God can fill the spiritual need, I want to be a part of bridging the gap with the physical needs in hopes to show the love of Christ. This is why I was so excited when I heard Calvin had an opportunity for me to practice nursing abroad where I would be introduced to the path of what nursing abroad could look like with different resources and a different culture. Learning these vital skills now, before I enter the field, will open me up for missions nursing opportunities in the future.
