We are the Find a Friend Project.
We are resistance with a difference.
Mutual aid is one of the last lines of defence we have as a tool to defend our brothers and sisters around the Globe from the ongoing genocide and persecution they face daily. But we can’t just throw money at a problem and hope it goes away, this itself only plays into the dehumanisation of black and brown people around the world.
This is where The Find a Friend Project comes in seeking to support mutual aid, with a difference.
Working closely with those we support, we aim to REhumanise the plight of our global family, to help the world see them as our friends rather than remaining “othered”. At the Find a Friend Project, we aim to learn as much as we can about everyone we support; their likes, dislikes, talents & needs. Then, they will be assigned a group of dedicated volunteers who will support them personally be it just by chatting & talking or with social media & fundraising support.
In the short time we have been doing this work, despite the money we send being completely invaluable- the one thing we consistently hear above all else is the impact of our friendship & moral support. To be seen. To be heard. To be loved.
Each friend we support goes through our verification process, so donors can trust their money is going to those who truly need it & we are always looking to onboard new volunteers who can help us support our friends in need.
All funds raised via this fundraiser will be sent directly to one of our friends in Sudan, Gaza or Kenya in order to help them survive. We are raising money for food, water & living costs as well as larger scale endeavours such as VISA applications. Currently we are supporting:
- The Queer Camp in Kakuma
- Areas of crisis in Sudan via our Ambassadors there
- Friends from Gaza including: Donia, Mohammad, Ahmad, Kamel, Ibrahim, Anas, Yousef, Deema & Kareem ❤️
Thank you truly, from the bottom of our hearts. Let’s change the world, one friend at a time
