Hi! I’m Virginia, an oil painter and performer based in Los Angeles, originally from a small town in eastern Kentucky. I’m incredibly honored to share that I’ve been accepted into several artist residencies, both in the U.S. and internationally, taking place this coming fall! Yippee!
As someone who regularly juggles three to five survival jobs a month (including waitressing, retail, film crew work, nannying, Uber Eats driving, and pet sitting), uninterrupted time to focus on my art is rare. Most of my painting happens between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. These upcoming residencies would be my first real opportunity to fully commit to my practice.
The costs of travel, supplies, and participation in these residencies feel daunting (if not impossible) on my current income. Being able to focus fully on my work, with an incredible artistic structure and community of fellow artists, would be a life-changing opportunity. I’m especially excited to deepen my technical skills and creative exploration.
Both residency projects center on the strength of communal intimacy- how essential it is to break bread, trust one another, and express love in all its forms. My goal is to raise enough to also hire and ethically pay local models for each project, supporting the communities that host me.
Your support will help cover:
Travel and lodging costs
Art supplies and materials
Model fees and fair compensation
Program fees and basic living expenses during the residencies
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact on my works. Thank you so much for supporting my artistic journey! I'll be eternally grateful, pinky promise :)
xxoxoxo,
Virginia
