If you’ve found your way here, you may already know that Virginia has been diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer—a diagnosis that was as shocking as it was devastating for her, Lytton, and their three young children. It’s the kind of news that instantly shatters every plan and every assumption about the future, changing daily life in ways that are hard to grasp from the outside.
I’m Ellen—Lytton’s sister and Virginia’s sister in every way that truly matters. I started this fund not only because I love them deeply, but because I’ve seen firsthand how fiercely they are fighting to hold onto a sense of normalcy, joy, and stability for their young family amid so much uncertainty. Virginia is the kind of person who makes you feel genuinely seen, safe, and cared for—someone who gives her whole heart to the people in her life. Now it’s our turn to give that back to her.
Virginia’s cancer journey isn’t just about treatment—though that alone is relentless. She’s facing constant pain, deep exhaustion, and an unending cycle of appointments, scans, procedures, and medications. Cancer steals energy, time, and mental clarity; it leaves almost no room for anything else. And yet, Virginia continues to pour herself into her children, her marriage, and her community.
Because of her symptoms, Virginia has had to step away from work entirely. Their family is now trying to navigate life on a reduced income, all while making sure their three young kids feel as secure and emotionally safe as possible. This fund will help in two crucial ways: first, by hiring a part-time house manager to handle the daily logistics—meals, errands, laundry, school coordination, and all the unseen work that keeps a household running—and second, by offsetting the lost income so Virginia and Lytton have the financial breathing room they need for the long road ahead.
Every contribution lifts some of that burden. It offers them time to rest, space to heal, and the precious ability to simply be together.
If you’d like to follow Virginia’s story, she’s been sharing honest, thoughtful updates on her CaringBridge site . If a financial donation isn’t possible right now, there are still so many meaningful ways to help. You can sign up to bring a meal, run an errand, or offer other practical support through the “Ways to Help” page on CaringBridge. Even sharing this fundraiser makes a real difference. True to who she is, Virginia continues to show up for others—raising awareness, advocating for earlier screening, and using her story to help however she can. By spreading the word, you’re helping her do that too.
Whether you know Virginia personally or are here because someone shared this link, thank you. Your generosity means more than words can say.
With love and deep gratitude for supporting my sister,
Ellen
