Support Virgil Balke's Heart Recovery Journey

Dear friends and family,
On October 26th, 2024, Virgil Balke suffered an unexpected, severe heart attack that turned his and our lives upside down. He went into cardiac arrest, requiring immediate CPR and defibrillation to save his life. Following that traumatic moment, he was life flighted by helicopter to College Station, and then again to Temple. He was intubated, sedated, and admitted to the ICU, where he has been receiving intensive care. He has a heart pump that has been supporting him until the care team can make a decision on the next step. He is being evaluated for the heart transplant list.
The good news is that Virg is a fighter, and his strength is shining through! He is now conscious, able to eat, sit up, and even talk. But as encouraging as this progress is, he still faces a challenging and uncertain journey ahead. Every day brings small victories and miracles, yet his recovery will take time, patience, and continued medical support.
Virgil is a dedicated small business owner and has always been the one lending a hand or offering support to others. Now, he’s the one in need of help. Medical expenses quickly add up, and he will also require rehabilitation and ongoing care. As a small business owner, he doesn’t have the luxury of paid leave, and being out of work for an extended period will create financial strain on his business and family.
We have already been so showered with love in the last week, through calls/texts, food deliveries, pet care, and prayer. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and will help lighten the load as he focuses on getting back on his feet.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support, prayers, and well wishes. A true social butterfly, nothing has made Virgil smile more than hearing the kind messages that his friends and family are sending. Your kindness means the world to us and to Virg as he faces this journey toward recovery.
With gratitude,
Virgil's Family
