Support Violet's Journey to Interlochen

We are so proud to have the opportunity to send Violet to Interlochen Arts Camp this Summer for six weeks to study voice. Normally, it wouldn't be an option for her to go due to the cost, tuition alone is $10,180. Additional costs include uniforms, gear for cabin camping in northern Michigan, and spending money for field trips and snacks from the stores on campus. Earlier this year she took second place in a competition with the Detroit Opera Youth Chorus and was awarded a half scholarship towards her tuition. We have also received some financial aid as Violet is one of four children. As a family, we've decided to make sure she has the opportunity to dedicate herself to study and personal growth in her last summer as a high school student. Not only will this help her prepare for her college auditions, but it will also give her the chance to grow as the camp allows the high school students a fair amount of independence on campus. We hope you can see the value in sending her.

Violet is a currently a junior at Oxford Virtual Academy and is taking all Advanced Placement courses and maintaining wonderful grades. She has received perfect scores on both her musical theater and classical performances with MSVMA this year. This past Fall she placed 2nd in the upper high school musical theater division of the YAC competition at Oakland University and most recently she placed 3rd in the upper high school classical music division of the YAC competition at Wayne State University. She does wonderful volunteer work as a member of the Shelby Township Library Teen Advisory Board and as the Secretary and Tutoring Coordinator for her chapter of the National Honor Society. She sings in THREE choirs, The advanced chorus at Oakland Homeschool Music, The Detroit Opera Youth Chorus, and the choir at All Saints Episcopal Church. While she has been in several productions with Detroit Opera, you may have seen her in a production with Richmond Community Theater as well. She started attending dog shows with her little sister last Summer and has been handling and helping to train our delightful puppy Nova. Most recently, she has started assisting a professional dog handler on weekends when she is free of academic and arts commitments. We are very proud of her hard work and dedication to her academics and interests. Violet hopes to double major in Classic Voice and Computer Science when she graduates in 2026.
