Hey everyone, it’s Vinny.
I never thought I’d be writing one of these, but here I am. 37 years old, facing something we all hope to never be the case.

On October 13th, 2025, after undergoing 2 surgeries simultaneously, I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP).

Only about 4 in every 1 million people are diagnosed with DFSP each year. Because it’s rare, there isn’t much research or information available. As such the stages for this cancer type are not typical to many other forms. This has 3 stages and I am deeper into stage 2.

This form of cancer grows under the skin layers inward first before showing any signs and I have likely been dealing with it now for an estimated 10 yrs or longer. It is a slow growing cancer which eventually led to a tumor growing on the middle of my back, just left of my spine. Mine continued to grow at a decent pace and although typically it is normally painless, mine was not, which led me to find it and eventually get it checked out.

Typically when found early enough, the tumors are found anywhere from 1-4cms. Mine was found during the initial surgery at just over 8cms. Which is somewhere in-between the size of an Orange and Grapefruit. During surgery, it was discovered that mine has spread a lot throughout the muscles in my back and causes concern due to the proximity of my spine and hopefully has not spread to my lungs either. Testing is still being done to confirm if this is the case or not.

My surgeon was unable to get all of the cancer cells upon the first procedure and I will be undergoing a much bigger, more invasive and aggressive surgery immediately to try and get as much of the cancer cells remaining out as possible followed by potentially either radiation or chemo. The cancer I have, combined with how much it has already spread, has a very high reoccurring rate for myself of nearly 65% chance to continue to return multiple times.

I’ve never been the type to ask for help, but the reality is that the medical bills keep growing, and insurance only covers so much. Between surgeries, hospital stays, scans, and upcoming treatments, the costs are already becoming overwhelming.

If you’re able to donate anything at all $1, $5, $10, or more, it truly makes a difference. Every bit goes directly toward my medical care and recovery.

I understand times are tough for everyone right now, and even if you can’t contribute financially, your prayers, positive thoughts, and messages mean the world to me.

Many of you know I’ve long struggled with depression, often feeling like a burden or inconvenience, even when I try my best to hide it behind a smile or jokes. Writing this and asking for help is not easy for me, but I know I can’t do this alone.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who’s already reached out with support, love, and encouragement, even despite not knowing all the details.

This goal may change as new medical costs come in, but for now, I’m taking things one step at a time—grateful for every bit of help, every kind word, and every person standing with me through this fight.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting me however you can. ❤️
