On Monday, October 20th, Vinnie went to the ER after feeling very weak from fighting a cold. He was then urgently moved to the ICU and the doctors determined that his condition was severe with red blood cell, white blood cell, and platelet counts extremely low. After many blood transfusions, blood tests, body scans, and a bone marrow biopsy, it was determined that Vinnie has Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) is an aggressive subtype of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). If diagnosed early and treated appropriately, APL is now one of the most curable subtypes of AML in adults.

Vinnie has been undergoing treatment for APL at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ and will be there for the next few weeks. As you can imagine, the medical expenses for his stay, procedures, and treatments go beyond what he can afford. Any financial support from family and friends would help extremely, especially with initial expenses. In all of this, we are grateful that Vinnie is responding well to treatment and is on a positive path to a full recovery. Once he achieves remission, he will continue with outpatient treatment on a weekly basis.
