As most of you know who have been following our story, our son Vincenzo was born prematurely at 24 weeks. We found out at our 20 week anatomy scan that he had Tetralogy of Fallot and would require open heart surgery to fix his little heart. However with him being born so prematurely, his treatment plan changed dramatically. We spent several months in the NICU and CVICU growing- getting bigger and stronger for heart surgery. His complete repair was scheduled for the end of April but in true Vincenzo fashion, he suddenly told us he was ready sooner.
We were admitted to the hospital on Tuesday April 24th and his heart surgery was the next morning. He did amazing and the surgeon was very happy with how things went. We will spend the next couple of weeks in the ICU recovering.
We have had a village of family and friends support us throughout this journey the past several months, and couldn’t have done it without all of you. God has watched over Vincenzo and we have see him in so many of the details- and can’t wait for Vincenzo’s story to help others someday. Mom has stepped away from work to care for Vincenzo these past several months. We will be using these funds for hospital expenses, on going Dr appts post discharge, in-home nursing, and our stay near the hospital during his recovery. We appreciate all of the support and prayers!!
