My name is Maryann Lee, and I am Vincent Lee's mother. He was born on 11/7/2010. Vincent has a diagnosis of FARS2 mitochondrial disease causing GMFCS Level IV spastic type diplegia cerebral palsy. The nature of his condition is permanent and means he will continue to require full-time assistance for the rest of his life. He is being treated with nutritional supplements, but there is currently no cure for this disease, and we expect ambulation impairments to be lifelong.
Vincent ambulates exclusively with a wheelchair and is not able to assist with transfers. He will need the appropriate van conversion to allow his family to transport him.
As Vincent gets older, it is imperative for his safety and the safety of his family that he have an adaptive means of transportation. I have been working closely with the Inland Regional Center to secure a grant to help pay for the cost of the conversion; however, that doesn’t cover the cost of the chassis. These vans are very expensive, and I have done everything I can financially to help with the purchase; however, there will still be some out-of-pocket costs. Any help will most definitely be appreciated by him and all that care for him on a daily basis.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration of this matter.
