Support Vili Ratulu's Olympic Dream for Fiji
Donation protected
Hi JP here (John Philp). I'm fundraising for Vili Ratului so he can get to the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
2023 was a landmark year for Vili, not only did he continue his winning streak at the Fiji Nationals, but he qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics – a dream long held and now within reach. His path to the Olympics is not just a personal quest; it represents the aspirations of every young sailor at the Savusavu Kids Sailing Club and the pride of Fiji.
Beyond his personal achievements, Vili has always been dedicated to nurturing the next generation of sailors. His coaching commitment to the Savusavu Kids Sailing Club is a testament to his passion for sailing, and his desire to give back to the community that has supported him.
To prepare for the Olympics, Vili needs to train overseas, an endeavor that requires significant financial support. As the sole breadwinner for his family, his absence also means a financial strain for his loved ones.
This is where we, as a community, can make a difference. Our GoFundMe campaign aims to support Vili's Olympic preparation and ensure his family is cared for during his absence. Your contribution will help cover training expenses, travel, equipment, and provide financial security for his family.
Note : I am organising this fundraiser for Vili as an ex Fiji sailor, and current Councilor for World Sailing representing Oceania. Funds are going into my Australian currency Commbank savings account where I am holding the funds on Vili Ratulu's behalf. Funds will be used against his expenses in Australia, where he is currently training with the NSW ILCA sailing team, and boarding at the Woolahra Sailing Club. Funds will also be used in France in the lead up to the Paris Olympics. He flies to France ten days early to train.
Vili's email is : [email redacted]
A full acquittal of funds raised and spent, will be tabled for the Fiji Yachting Association and available at the next Annual General Meeting + saved on the FYA G-Drive for full transparency.
