While my grandparents were in Maine visiting family, Hurricane Helene hit WNC. My grandfather and grandmother returned home to find their small community of Minneapolis, NC in shambles. Their home had been flooded and the neighbors house had been moved beside theirs. The majority of their belongings are unable to be saved due to the severity of the flood. This is the home that my grandfather raised his children in. My grandfather is a Vietnam vet. In his words "this town now looks like a war zone and is worse than any thing I have ever experienced before". We have not received the final say but we are pretty sure their home is going to be a total loss. In the middle of this loss they have been reaching out giving to and helping others. They both retired from jobs being of service to others and now its our time to give back to them anyway we can. We are asking that people give to them so they can start over. These funds will be used to help them find a new home and be able to furnish it. If unable to give please keep them in your prayers as this is a difficult time and a hard transition.
