How does donated funds help VIDYA VICHAAR Music Academy?

No matter how small or large, we are extremely grateful to all who donate, please see below areas in which your donations can have an impact.

• Material costs, each new student who joins our organisation will receive a learning Pothi to safely and respectively keep their Kirtan Shabads and Tabla notes inside, this is compiled with various stationery and folders, these are ordered using the donations we receive as well as ink to print out the Pothis.

• Instruments such as Harmoniums, Tablas and now also extended to stringed instruments such as the Dilruba, your funds greatly assist us purchase these instruments not only to teach students online and in person, but also to give away to those who are not so fortunate to purchase one themselves.

• Siropas, medals, certificates and trophies as well as gifts are periodically given to students over the curriculum year, at the end of the curriculum year an award ceremony is held to give these items to our students.

• Fuel costs, these help Bhai Sahib Ji to travel across the UK to various gurdwaras and house satsangs around the Midlands whilst also extending to areas such as Manchester, London and Bristol.

Please Note: Donations made to VIDYA VICHAAR are not used to towards a labour cost such as the development of curriculums and preparation of student folders, only for material costs as stated above such as paper, card, stationary and ink.

Introduction to VIDYA VICHAAR Kirtan Academy

As most of you are already aware, with the grace of Akaal Purkh, Vaheguru Ji dee kirpa sadka, VIDYA VICHAAR sevadaars in UK, now also internationally have been tailoring tuition in Gurbani Kirtan, Tabla (higher intermediate) and now taati saaj (stringed instruments) are also part of our growing curriculum. We are a non-profit organisation that was established in the UK in 2018, with Vaheguru Ji’s kirpa we aim to spread Gurbani Kirtan, Tabla, Santhiya and Taati saaj knowledge in the upcoming curriculum year, bedtime stories relating to Sikh history will also be a new edition that we strive for. We also deliver tuition face to face, online and gurdwara classes, these classes are available to everyone of all ages and backgrounds who wish to absorb the knowledge blessed by Akaal Purkh. Our ethos has existed for many years, in fact Bhai Sahib Ji first started teaching kirtan at the age of 15 in UK, however their inspiration for starting a Vidyala began in 1984 as they expanded their seva. Fast forward to the present day, VIDYA VICHAAR has expanded within the UK and also Europe, India, America and Canada. The concept is inspired by Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj with the following pangti:

Ang 356, meaning to contemplate and reflect upon knowledge and you will become a benefactor to others.

VIDYA VICHAAR Kirtan Academy during the COVID-19 National Lockdown

The national lockdown was a difficult time for many, for our organisation in particular it meant we could no longer travel and deliver tuition at gurdwaras and sangat’s homes. However, it was during this time that the organisation saw its strongest growth with immense support from sangat during the pandemic as we transitioned from in person lessons to exclusively online, total number of students reached 100+ during 2020 with 400+ by the end of 2021, today the total number of students have surpassed 1200+ within UK and internationally.

As previously mentioned, we are currently delivering tuition in Kirtan (Raag, Classical and Akhand), Santhiya (Gurbani pronunciation as well as Larivaar, both Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth Sahib Ji).
