Urgent Appeal for Grace Charity Schools in Pakistan

I’m reaching out with a heartfelt plea to support a critical cause led by my dear friend and brother in Christ, Victor, a pastor in Pakistan. Two years ago, I met Victor and was deeply moved by his inspiring life story and unwavering faith. Victor pastors a Christian church and founded Grace Charity Schools in Pakistan, a mission that comes with immense challenges and risks, including threats to his life.

In 2010, Victor felt God’s calling to start a church and school in Pakistan, beginning his ministry from his home. His initial focus was on children working in brick kilns, where families, often uneducated and untrained, toil in extreme conditions to make bricks by hand. These families face grueling hours, nearly impossible quotas, and dangerous environments. During the off-season, they borrow money from kiln owners to survive, often becoming trapped in a cycle of debt and modern-day slavery. Victor’s passion has been to provide these children with a free Christian education, raise funds to pay off their families’ debts, and teach parents skills to earn a living independently.

In 2012, Victor’s faith was tested when armed gunmen stormed his home, took him hostage, and held him captive for nearly a month. He endured torture and threats to renounce Christ and abandon his church and school. His family, unaware of his whereabouts, feared the worst. Yet, God sustained Victor through those dark days. Miraculously, he was released, emaciated and traumatized but alive. Despite this ordeal, Victor’s resolve remained unshaken. He declared, “They have already killed me once. I thought I was surely going to die, what more can they do to me?” Once recovered, he returned to his calling, resuming his work with renewed determination.

God has blessed Victor’s faithfulness. Grace Charity Schools now educates over 800 students, offering them a path out of poverty through a free Christian education. Thanks to the generosity of donors, including a new school building funded by Hobby Lobby’s owners, young people are graduating and attending college, transforming the trajectory of their lives. Victor gives all glory to God for these victories.

However, the ministry now faces severe challenges. A key benefactor, who once funded nearly 100% of the school’s needs, can no longer provide support. Additionally, a recent earthquake damaged the school, forcing a temporary closure, and extreme flooding in nearby towns has devastated families, destroying homes and leaving them displaced, “sleeping under the stars,” as Victor described. The needs are immense, but Victor’s faith reminds us that God is greater.
