My name is Victoria, and I’m a senior at Barry Goldwater High School, where I’ve been part of the Barry Goldwater Pride Regiment for four years. Band has become my passion and my second family. Over the years, I’ve played alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, double bass, and bassoon, and I’ve taken on leadership roles as librarian, vice president, and now president of our band council. This year, I’m honored to serve as our band’s drum major—a dream I’ve worked toward since I first joined.
One of my proudest moments was during our finals competition last year. Our show, “Brushstrokes,” brought out the best in all of us. I had a soprano sax solo, and the energy and emotion on the field were unforgettable. We were up against tough competition, but my band was determined. By the end of our performance, everyone—students, instructors, and directors—was in tears. It was a moment of pure joy and unity, and when we learned we had won, it felt like all our hard work had truly paid off.
Senior year comes with many expenses, from band fees and senior trip costs to required photos and graduation essentials. I’ve always worked hard to fundraise so my family wouldn’t have to worry, but this year, I need extra help. Supporting my fundraiser means helping me continue to lead by example and show my peers that with dedication and passion, financial obstacles can be overcome. Your support will help me finish my senior year strong and inspire others in my band to keep reaching for their dreams, no matter the challenges. After graduation, I plan to major in psychology and then lead it into forensic psychology, so every bit of support helps me move closer to that goal.
