This special person was scammed by a car theft crime ring and lost their entire savings and the car they bought when Hertz rental came to pick it up

My co-worker (Victoria) is known to a lot of you. She is the person you talk to on the phone when you call and the first face you see when you register, or come in (Since I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say where Victoria works, I am hoping that by reading this, you will know who I am talking about.). Those who know her, know that she is a genuine and kind person. Victoria loves her community and genuinely cares about each person she meets.

Her and her husband saved for literal years to purchase a reliable car (her husband is disabled and they have a young son - Hunter). They finally saved enough, They found the car, and took out their savings to buy that car. They traveled to Illinois to meet this (seemed like a nice man) that she had talked to numerous times, and they gave that man their entire savings and drove the car home, with title in hand.

They went to register the car at the DOT. Because the mileage (which is not required in Illinois) was not written on the title, they needed another form from the seller with the mileage. Victoria reached out and this (nice guy) sent that information. They mailed the information to the DOT and waited. A few weeks later they receive a letter from the DOT to contact Chicago police. The Car Was STOLEN. Come to find out, Victoria is the victim of what was an actual crime ring that stole cars from rental agencies and forged titles.

Maybe you are thinking that they should have known better, I disagree. Because Victoria is a genuine person, she had no idea that someone would actually do something like this. When I found out, it was because Victoria wanted to find a way to let other people know about this kind of thing, it wasn’t because she wanted help – it was because she wanted to help others. That is just how Victoria is.
