Dear SSI,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to share that our colleague, Victoria Johnson, is currently facing a challenging time due to a fire in her home. She and her family are fine but have been displaced due to the fire.
On behalf of Vikki:
On June 11th, 2025, a fire broke out in our upstairs neighbor’s condo, completely changing our lives. The fire took over three hours to put out, with the help of four city firefighter departments. During this time, our three cats were trapped inside while we watched our complex burn. One cat was rescued by a brave firefighter after being inside for an hour, while the other two endured the full three hours of smoke and water used to put out the fire.
The fire caused a total loss of our home, and we now face the long road to recovery. We’ve been told the rebuilding process will take 8 months to a year, and in the meantime, we need to secure temporary housing while repairs are underway.
Here’s how your support can help:
• Temporary housing: We need help covering the costs of securing a place to live during this long rebuilding period.
• Rebuilding life: From furniture to everyday essentials, we’ve lost everything we once took for granted. Any contribution will go directly toward getting us back on our feet.
This has been an incredibly stressful and emotional time, but we are deeply grateful for the love and support we’ve already received. If you’re able to help — whether through a donation or by sharing our story — it would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for being a part of our journey to rebuild. We’re one step closer to recovery because of people like you.
