I spent my entire school years with Victor Parra (Peer). He moved to the Flathead Valley when he was five years old. I always knew him as a good kid with a kind heart. He was shy but always had a joke brewing.

He was one of those people who seemed to always have the odds stacked against him. He was born with various disabilities and was bullied throughout our school years, but he always laughed it off and doled out his radiant smile generously.

Last year, I saw a picture of Victor Parra in a New York Times article. He had become homeless in Kalispell, Montana, sleeping in parks while struggling with addiction.

Victor found little solace during his time on the streets. One night, he was pulled from his tent by an aggressive mob who punched him and threatened to hang him from a tree. He managed to calm them down and fled for his life. He endured frigid nights, violence and malnutrition.

Through various social services and the Flathead Warming Center, Victor was able to get into a treatment center. He now resides in a sober living community in Missoula and is over six months sober. He recently finished his first semester of college at the University of Montana, pursuing a degree in social work. He’s bravely forged a path of hope and resilience.

Victor needs our support now more than ever. He needs money for clothes and school. During these past difficult years, he is need of medical attention and would like to buy dentures.
Please join me to help give Victor his smile back and supporting his journey to success.
