My Story: A Plea for Help and Healing
On April 24, 2022, my life changed forever. Just a few blocks away from Home Depot’s parking lot on Mt. Carmel–Tabasco Rd., I was struck head-on by another vehicle making an illegal turn. In that moment, everything I knew was shattered.
I was driving my 2002 Toyota Avalon when a 2021 Toyota Rav4 hit me at full force. The crash left me with a concussion, fractured teeth, bulging and herniated discs, and a dislocated sacroiliac (SI) joint. The other driver, too, suffered devastating injuries. I thank God every day that the impact did not occur closer to my driver’s side door—because if it had, I might not be here to tell my story.
Since that morning, I have lived with relentless, daily pain. To cope, I receive cortisone injections in my SI joint, neck, and wrist every six months, and I rely on multiple prescription medications just to make it through each day. My doctors have recommended urgent procedures—including SI joint fusion, tendon repair and grafting, and a cervical laminectomy on C2–C5—but my insurance has denied these petitions three times. They have also refused coverage for ablation therapy and platelet-rich plasma injections, leaving me with no path forward for relief.
The truth is, I have come to a breaking point. I cannot do this alone. With a heavy heart, I turn to you—friends, family, and compassionate strangers—for help. Whether through financial assistance, prayers for healing, or simply sharing my story, every act of kindness matters. No contribution is too small; each one brings me closer to the care I so urgently need.
For those who know me, you know how much I love to give. I volunteer whenever I can, I cherish bringing smiles to children’s faces at Home Depot’s Kid Workshops, and I treasure my time spent with fellow burn survivors at Shriners Hospital for Children’s summer camps. Giving has always been my joy—and now, humbly, I find myself on the other side, asking for your gift of hope.
I am a senior Biochemistry major at Mount Saint Joseph University, and I often study at Cincinnati State College. Education is my passion, and despite everything, I dream of a future where I can heal, graduate, and continue giving back to others.
From the depths of my heart, thank you for reading my story. Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your compassion. I pray that someday I can meet each and every one of you, to look you in the eye and say, “thank you for helping me stand again.”
May God bless you richly for blessing me.
