Hi all! I am raising money to support a group of women and children leave their psychological suffering and physical torment. Every penny you donate would wipe a tear off of a child’s face so please donate as much as you can! After the International Women’s Day, I heard a heart throbbing story from a lady who resides in one of the slums in Lahore. She is a survivor and spoke to me about the horrors of the assault, and how she could never speak up about it and the perpetrator still lives with his head high. The story was so heart breaking that through the forum of the ‘Aurat March’, which is a Women’s day march organized in my city, I inquired more and was able to have conversations with several more such women who spoke to me about their experiences. These women mostly come from communities who live miles below the poverty line. Their lips have remained sealed since they were never given the opportunity to speak up and did not have enough financial means to stand up for themselves. In some cases, the perpetrator still lives with them and the horrors of verbal and physical abuse and assault is the reality of their lives. They are chained to their misery. They want to escape this, but have nowhere to go.
You can help them break free of their restraints. You can help them live a life free of fear and abuse. Please donate as much as you can! The money would go towards supporting the women to pursue legal action against their perpetrators, and in some cases relocating these women and children to shelters, and giving them some money that would be enough for them to get by for 3 weeks, until they find a source of income. I have identified a group of 36 women and children, and $500 would be spent on each of them (for some a little more, for some a little less, on a case by case basis). The money would go towards the legal costs, and also to provide food, shelter and sustenance in the cases where we need to relocate the women and children because the perpetrator(s) lives with them or close to them. I continue to engage in conversations with them to identify more women and children who live similar lives.
My friends and I have put all of our money that we could, but for the rest we need your help. We need a total of $18,000 and the contribution by my friends and I is around $2,000 so we need $16,000 more. The money you donate can move them from a world of darkness and abuse, to a world where they can finally breathe. Every dollar you donate helps!
