Family! That is the reason I've started this request and fund. About 5 weeks ago, we almost lost one of my sisters.

My sister Vicky has had a long couple of years. Multiple hospital visits and stays due to inflammation and then infections have kept her from work many times. Then came the start of November.

On October 28, Vicky had surgery to reverse a colostomy bag (which she ended up with due to previous infections). On November 2, she was taken back to the hospital with a bowel leak and had to have emergency surgery. It was found that Vicky was in major septic shock and they almost lost her during surgery. Family was told that the following 48 hours would be tough and she may not make it through.

For 3-4 days, Vicky was on life support and in a coma. (There is a picture which shows the toughest moments.) Infection was spread throughout her body and she silently fought to survive. Doctors said that if she came out of this, she would be hospitalized for months and have rehab for longer. Family gathered, even from out of state, and sat by her bedside.

BUT, things changed around day 4. Vicky was slowly woken up and though she had little to no strength, she was still with us! She would end up spending almost 4 weeks in the Critical Care ICU before being able to be moved to a regular hospital room.

Recently, Vicky was moved to a rehabilitation facility and will be there for the next couple of months. She has been able to take some steps and walk short distances. She just hit a milestone of standing without assistance!!! Go Vicky Go! At this facility, she will continue on IV antibiotics (as infection has still been a struggle) and will continue physical therapy.

This all leads us to here, a fund to help. Vicky has been out of work for over a month and will be out for at least another 2 months. This leaves Price (her husband) as the only one working and now half the income for their household. I feel the need to ask for help and find a way to share in supporting them. I know it's the holidays and not the greatest time of year for asking for more from people, but whatever we can all do is better than nothing. It would be awesome to help her just cover some main bills (even though this won't cover her income lost). I'm setting a goal of $3,500. That is $1,000/month for each month she hasn't or won't be working for sure and then some to cover fees here. (I'd love to raise more since there is so much lost income.)

Can you help? Even the smallest amount would add up and relieve some stress and burdens for Vicky and Price. Please share. I know there is family all over and there are co-workers and classmates that still connect with Vicky. Let's all work together and bless her! Let's show the love to my sister! ❤️
