My best friend Vicky was recently diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), an early form of breast cancer. Although we are deeply grateful it was caught early, the road ahead will be long, uncertain, and emotionally and financially demanding.
Over the next several months Vicky will undergo multiple MRIs, surgery, and post-operative treatment, all while navigating the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and creative toll that a diagnosis like this can bring. As many of you know, Vicky works as a freelance creative director, and her income depends entirely on her ability to produce, plan, and create. Recovery time, medical scheduling, and the emotional weight of this journey will limit her ability to work consistently.
We want to ensure that instead of worrying about bills, medical costs, and day-to-day survival, Vicky can focus fully on healing.
Vicky is one of the most gifted creatives I have ever met. We first connected years ago while studying at FIT, bonding instantly over our love for fashion, art, and building something meaningful in the world. Since then, she has spent her life pouring into others by helping artists, companies, and everyday people bring their visions to life through her unique eye and thoughtful direction.
She’s also committed to supporting young creatives who may not have access, guidance, or encouragement to pursue the careers they truly want by helping them navigate the creative landscape and believe in the possibility of their own dreams. She is a loving daughter, supportive sister, proud aunt, and as many of us can attest, an incredible, hilarious and loving friend. Vicky is always creating, always uplifting, always offering more than she asks for.
Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
Your support will directly help cover:
- Medical appointments with physicians and nurses from multiple specialities including gynecology, surgery, oncology, fertility
- Pre and Post-operative labs and imaging (MRI, ultrasound, CT)
- Surgery and post-op care
- Potential secondary interventions such as chemotherapy and radiation
- Treatment-related expenses such as medications, comfort items and durable medical equipment
- Lost income during testing, treatment and recovery
- Day-to-day living expenses while she focuses on her health
Any amount, big or small will truly make a difference. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others helps more than you know.
Thank you for helping Vicky navigate this chapter with stability, love, and community behind her. She deserves to heal without fear. We’re grateful for every prayer, donation, and share.
With love,
Dochi
