Support Vicky's fight against lung cancer

Donation protected

I was diagnosed with Metastatic Stage 4 lung cancer in Oct 2018.  When I was diagnosed, it had already spread to my brain, spine, hips, and right lung. Large amounts of fluid, 1500cc, filled in my lungs and my right lung nearly collapsed. At times, I could barely breathe. A lung drain was put in my right side after the second batch of 1500cc of fluid was extracted. I now drain that myself every 2 days.  I initially had 2 weeks of full radiation for brain, lung, hips and spine spots right before Thanksgiving. The sessions were long, about an hour on the machine. It wipes your body OUT!! You don’t even recognize what is going on with the side effects. I was also put on oxygen to help me breathe. You feel like it’s an out of body experience. Like going fast and slow at the same time.  I had to rely on the only thing I had known, faith in God. If I had never been faithful in my life before, NOW was the time.  I cried, then I stopped crying, and then I gathered support from prayer groups and steady prayer through friends, family, coworkers, anyone who would pray for me.  I met with my pastor and fasted and prayed and reached out to this network daily.

I don't believe in any other outcome but success, recovery, and healing. I know my God is not going to give me the gift of my daughter at age 48, to take me away at age 52.  So, I will continue to dig deep, to fight, to learn how to lean on others, and let Jehovah carry me when I don’t have the strength to carry myself. I am determined to push thru and praise Him at all times. I am so blessed to have the support and medic responders that I have. My head is still spinning at the enormity of it all. I am so grateful for my support system, people praying, transportation, grocery delivery, prescription delivery, conversations, on and on. It's still almost surreal but I’m living it one day at a time.

I have to re-strengthen my body, but my spirit and my mind remain strong. I am sooo appreciative of the friends and support that have come to my assistance. Being a private person, it’s had to share your story, but it’s amazing the result when you do!!

My last rescan showed, and I believed in this result regardless of what the odds were due to my Faith, that the cancer spots are now "tiny". Can you imagine from 7cm and very aggressive to "tiny". That is the God we serve and I am strengthened by His grace. I now rebuild, renewed by faith, my life, my career, my job, my role as a mother. I rejoice in the life I have been given. I still have a long way to go, but I am fully confident that healing and recovery are on the way.
