Help Support Vickie Patterson Through Unimaginable Loss

We are coming together as coworkers, friends, and community members to support Vickie Patterson, the dedicated assistant to our agency’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman, during an extraordinarily difficult and heartbreaking time in her life.

For many years, Vickie served as the full-time caregiver for her elderly father, who sadly passed away in July of this year. Shortly after this terrible loss, Vickie was severely injured in a head-on collision caused by a drunk driver.

Tragically, the hardship did not end there.

Vickie recently suffered the devastating loss of her daughter, who died during a cruise ship excursion in Antarctica. Vickie is now facing not only overwhelming grief, but also the significant financial and legal burden of working with the Argentinian government to bring her daughter’s body home – a process that is complex, emotionally exhausting, and extremely costly.

Throughout all of this, Vickie has shown incredible strength, professionalism, and compassion in her work advocating for others, often while carrying more pain than anyone should ever have to bear.
