Hi, I’m Vicki. I’m raising money because, for reasons that could happen to anyone, I have ten days from today to find a new home or be homeless. Those words are something that I thought I would never hear myself say about myself. The home I rented for three years was sold, and within four days, the new landlords raised my rent by 50%. My lease was up in April from the previous owner so they do not have to honor it. When I asked if they could please not raise it so extreme, The new owner told me “it’s his property and that he can do what he wants”. when I told him I did not have the extra $600 to pay him every month, They then gave me 30 days to pay the new rent or get out. Since I can’t afford the new rent, I chose to get out. This is devastating to me.

the new owners had a crew come to rip the whole outside siding off while I am still living here. They just threw all my outdoor furniture and shoes that were on the porch into the muddy yard.

I also had two backyard chickens that I had to rehome for safety reasons from all the roofing etc they were throwing right down into their cage. I raised them from babies. They were my pets. This is all happening within the last two weeks and it is quite stressful and devastating. I Have gotten a small storage unit for my personal things. I’ve attached pictures of my home life for the last two weeks. It’s not good. I need to get out of here. I do not want to choose an eviction route. I do not want to be evicted. I want to leave on my own terms in two weeks with dignity. Anyone dealing with moving knows for expensive it is when deposits It is also time consuming and everyone you apply for an apartment you have to pay a fee whether or not they approve you. It’s too much right now. Anything is appreciated so much, and I swear I will pay it forward once I’m settled again. Thank you in advance for any help. I just need a little help to make sure I can have the deposit if someone accepts me as a new tenant. Again. Thank you for reading. Finding a home and coming up with the money they want as a deposit shouldn’t be this hard in America. Yet here we are.
