Help Restore VFW Post 76!

A Plea from a 22-Year DV Veteran to the Military Base USA Community and others.

Hello, I'm Ken, a 22-year veteran of the military and a member of the Post, and I'm reaching out to you, my brothers and sisters in the Military Base USA community and others, with a heavy heart.

Last night, a piece of Texas history—a bedrock for countless veterans—was violated. Historic VFW Post 76, the oldest VFW Post in Texas, celebrating 130 years of continuous service, was broken into.

This isn't just about a building; it's about the sanctuary for veterans who have served our nation. It’s about the place where healing happens, where friendships are forged, and where the next generation of veterans finds a helping hand.

The Commander’s Message, as our Post Commander shared:

"We regret to inform you that our VFW Post has once again been the target of a burglary. At approximately 0300 hours, our post was broken into... an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from our dispensing machine. These gaming machines are vital as they support our Veteran Service Dog programs and help us maintain our operating costs while providing entertainment to our members and their guests. Due to this unfortunate incident, we will need to allocate additional funding to enhance our security measures, diverting resources away from other vital veteran programs."

Why We Need Your Help? The thieves didn't just steal money; they stole resources intended for veterans in need. Every dollar taken was a dollar meant for a service dog, a repair, or a moment of fellowship. To ensure this never happens again, we are urgently fundraising to cover three critical needs:

Need & Estimated Cost
1. Restore Stolen Funds~$2,000. Replaces the direct loss, ensuring we can meet our immediate operating needs.

2. Upgrade Security System, complete replacement and upgrade (cameras, alarms, reinforced entry) to protect our historic post and the veterans inside.

3. Support Service Dog Program. Every Extra Dollar is our ultimate goal: Prevent resources from being diverted and provide extra funds directly to our life-changing Veteran Service Dog programs.
